Client: The Taft School, an independent, coeducational, college
preparatory school.
Print Materials: Taft Bulletin quarterly alumni magazine.
Designer Notes: When we first proposed that an alumni magazine should have widespread appeal beyond the school's alumni audience, the client was hesitant, but the first issue, in 1992, was met with overwhelming alumni support, and the stage was set. This magazine is a wonderful challenge every quarter because Taft alums are talented, exciting and varied. In one issue of the magazine, we are taken to the top of Mount Everest, studying elephants in Africa and racing cars - the next we are saving an ecosystem - the next reliving the Second World War. Scanning hundreds of photos and lines of text is now something we do as naturally as breathing. Although we labor over every last page, in the studio and on press - our design team scrambles to get their hands on the latest issue when it arrives from the printer to read it anew from cover to cover!
